What is a Big Bang?
A big bang is an event where artists and writers are paired together to create a fic of a certain minimum length that is accompanied by an illustration. Participants generally find that the partnership and check-ins built into the event help with finishing works that would otherwise be challenging to do alone.
All works created for the event are kept secret until posting time. After the final check-in, all pairs are assigned a date to post their work so that (ideally) the oihina tag will be flooded with fanworks for several days and we can all have a nice feast!
There are four roles available in this bang:
Writers who sign up will commit to writing a piece that is at least 5,000 words long for this event. This must be a new work that has never been published before. Writers are also expected to have an AO3 account to publish their final piece in our collection.
Artists who sign up will commit to making at least one drawing that is either colored or shaded on unlined paper. This must be a new work that has never been published before. Both traditional and digital mediums are welcomed. Backgrounds, while recommended, are optional.
Beta Readers who sign up will commit to beta reading at least one fic and should expect that fic to be at least 5,000 words long.
Pinch-hitters are back-up writers/artists/betas who will be contacted in case of drop outs. Pinch-hitters must be in our discord for quick contact. Pinch-hitter sign-ups will remain open throughout the whole event.
Participants may sign up for as many roles as they think they can handle. We also welcome casual cheerleaders!
Please check our schedule page for more details on how this kind of event flows! It is also recommended that you join our discord for this event!
Schedule
Interest Check: July 1 - July 25
A public survey will be released to gauge interest for the event and adjust our plans accordingly.
All Sign-Ups Open: August 1
A form will be released to sign up for any role. Participants are encouraged to join the discord server at this time.
Writer Sign-Ups Closed: August 30
Writer sign-ups typically close earlier due to higher volume of participants; this is subject to change depending on our interest check results. After writer sign-ups close, all writers will be emailed a Fic Summary Form requesting information about the story they will write for the big bang.
Artist/Beta Sign-Ups Closed: September 15
Fic Summaries Due: September 15
Writers MUST turn in the Fic Summary Form they were emailed on August 30th by this date or else they will be dropped from the event
Artist/Beta Claims: September 18-22
Artists and Betas will be emailed a document containing all the Fic Summaries, which will be anonymous and formatted as per below:
Please note that there will be two separate documents for safe-for-work [containing Teen and below ratings] and not-safe-for-work [containing Mature/Explicit ratings] fic summaries. Artists/Betas will receive access to one or both depending on their age reported at sign-up.
Artists/betas will also be emailed a link to a form to indicate their preferences. We will try to match artists/betas up based on highest preference possible for everyone. It is not first come first serve! Please keep an eye out for the email on September 18th and submit your claims ASAP.
Pair-Ups Released: September 25
We will email all participants which artist/writer/beta they are matched with along with the necessary contact information. It is then up to the participants to make contact with their group members and discuss how to collaborate.
Soft Check-In: September 30
We will email all participants to make sure they are in contact with their teammates.
Check-In 1: October 30
A check-in form will be emailed to all participants and must be completed within three days. Extensions may be requested by contacting a mod; if you fail to meet a check-in requirement with no attempts to contact a mod, you may be dropped.
Writers should have at least 1,000 words or 20% of their fic completed at this point.

Mods
Gumi is a chaotic goose who recently migrated into the Haikyuu fandom in late April. She has participated in and successfully organized dozens of events (including bangs) in the past for other fandoms (check carrd link for partial list), and she is excited to host something for her newest fandom/ship! She is well aware of the work needed to run a bang and feels confident that the small but enthusiastic mod team will be able to see it through. And if extra help is ever needed, she has dozens of friends to honk at for back-up!
Although generally a very omnivorous shipper, her favorite ships are oihina and atsuhina!
Vick has only been in the Haikyuu!! fandom for less than a year, and this will be her first time modding a bang. She has had experience in modding discord servers and bingos for the Marvel fandom in the past however. Vick is organized and likes structure and is excited to assist in making sure the OiHina bang is successful and fun. She has been involved distantly in fandom for over 15 years but in the past 5 has become much more active on social media and in fandom spaces.
She loves anime as a whole but has fallen in love with the story and characters of Haikyuu!! and specifically OiHina. She looks forward to furthering the OiHina agenda with all of you!
Neo was kidnapped to be our graphics mod. Neo is a Haikyuu!! fandom bab, she’s been in the fandom for less than a year. This is her first time modding a bang, but she has co-modded in other fandom events such as bingos and fanweeks. She’s been in and out of fandom spaces for at least 15 years, but recently became more active about 4-5 years ago.
Though Neo is still rather deep in the BNHA fandom, she does hold a love for the boys of Haikyuu!! as well. Kuroken is her main ship, but she’s open to literally anything and will try it at least once.
